Michael Riley Design demonstrates a passion for strong design clarity and bold yet playable synthetic greens. Fascinated since youth by the role of natural flow and geometry, Mike Riley leverages his experience working with Nicklaus Design and Robert Cupp. Acknowledging the impact of over three decades of golf course mastery, Southwest Greens formalized a relationship to integrate natural course attributes with advanced synthetic turf performance characteristics.

After receiving a degree in Horticulture from Clemson University and brief time on the pro golf circuit, Mike was offered a pivotal role to work for Nicklaus Design. As both a site coordinator and a design associate, he was fortunate to be work on Nicklaus golf courses in Tucson, California, Colorado, Hawaii, and Japan. He literally learned exceptional golf course design and construction from the ground up with a golf legend. One of the courses he worked on, the Kiele at Kauai Lagoons in Hawaii, won Best New Resort Course by Golf Digest magazine in 1989.
